(Ages 9-13)
Advanced Youth Mountain Bike Program
Our Pre-DEVO Youth Revolution program designed for young riders who have mastered basic mountain biking fundamentals and are ready to advance their skills. Participants should be comfortable on blue terrain and open to experimenting on black trails. They should be eager to progress their abilities through structured learning, games, and racing.
Program Highlights
RMCC's Pre-DEVO Youth Revolution offers a structured development program bridging the gap between foundational skills and more advanced riding techniques. This program maintains an emphasis on fun and social connections while introducing more technical riding elements under the guidance of PMBIA Certified Mountain Bike Coaches.
Riders will be introduced to XC and Enduro racing to challenge their abilities and encourage them to progress into competitive cycling disciplines. The participants who sign up for select races will be offered race day support from our coaches.

Race Day Strategy: Tire Pressure, Starting Position, Line Choice, Passing Safety, Riding in Groups, Pace
Time and Place
The Pre-Devo Youth Revolution will take place on Sunday and Thursday evenings from May 1st - June 30th. The sessions will be 2-2.5hrs long, meeting at the Canmore Nordic Centre with predetermined meeting instructions sent with pre-camp communications.
Other areas in Canmore and Banff will be considered based on the skill level of the group, trail conditions, concurrent events at CNC, and permits acquired.
Pre-Camp Checklist
Bike Requirements:
Correct bike size for the rider.
Front suspension mandatory, rear suspension encouraged.
Recent tune-up and safety check.
Bike Tune-Up Checklist:
Tires in good condition with adequate tread.
Fully functional brakes that the rider can engage easily.
Gears tuned for smooth shifting and chain wear addressed.
Secure bearings for smooth operation.
Skill Requirements & Rider Profile
The Rider:
Can maneuver the bike with basic body positioning and balance.
Occasionally stands up when coasting or tackling small obstacles.
Pedals comfortably over varied terrain and understands basic gear use.
Is beginning to consider line choices while riding over roots and rocks.
Riders will be grouped by skill level and age.
Fitness & Temperament
Enjoys physical activity.
Motivated to learn and improve, with considerations for comfort level and individual needs.
Trail Rating
Comfortable on double track and green trails.
Confidently rides berms, roots, and rocks.
